Prayer Requests
From Council of Zimbabwe Christian Leaders UK
- Pray for a concerted effort on behalf of the Unity Government, especially for President Robert Mugabe and Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, to realise the responsibility it has to its people.
- Pray also for support from the international community, including Christian agencies, Churches, governments, NGO's, the UN and the Commonwealth, on behalf of Zimbabwe.
- Pray for the political prisoners still in prison or unaccounted for
- Pray for people who are hungry and not able to find food
- Pray for the police, Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) and armed forces that they use their power for upholding the law and serving people.
From Newfrontiers
- For the “crisis team” who are spearheading the Newfrontiers initiatives and endeavouring to distribute food.
- For wisdom in the planning process
- For opportunities for churches to minister to the broken hearted and meet the spiritual as well as physical needs of the people of Zimbabwe
From WorldShare
- Pray that the aid being sourced, transported, sourced and distributed by WorldShare’s partners will safely reach its destination and bring help to those in greatest need.
- Pray for WorldShare’s Crisis Management Consultant who will shortly be conducting training for the staff of Hope for Africa Missions, to help them prepare for the transition from relief to reconstruction in Zimbabwe.
- Pray for the safety of WorldShare’s partner ministry workers with HfAM who are operating in Zimbabwe. Some have received threats from the regime of President Mugabe.
- Pray also for Hope for Africa’s work with Zimbabwean refugees in South Africa, many of whom are destitute and desperate. Hope for Africa Missions offers a place of safety, food, clothing and medical care; love and counselling.
From Viva Africa
- The deteriorating economic situation means that there are many children who are currently out of school. Previously, children have been out of school because of their vulnerable status but now there are many children who cannot afford school fees. Pray that local churches will be able to assist children in their communities so that they do not miss out on any part of their education when political upheavals occur.
- Pray also for the caregivers living in Zimbabwe that they would be encouraged and not feel isolated as they tend to children's spiritual, emotional and physical needs.

Psalm 147
1. Praise the LORD. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!
2. The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel.
3. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
4. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.
5. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.
6. The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground. |
